History

Founded in 1959 as Finanz- und Verwaltung AG. Later renamed Atlantic Finanz + Verwaltungs AG. Asset management activities spun off in 1997 as Atlantic Vermogensverwaltung AG, which obtained a banking licence in 1999. Rudolf August Oetker died in January 2007 aged 90, leaving eight children by three marriages. They included son August, who has managed the group since 1981.
