Founded in 1885. Formerly known as Solothurner Kantonalbank. Acquired by Swiss Bank Corporation (SBC) in 1994. SBC had to sell the bank as a condition for regulatory approval of its 1998 merger with Union Bank of Switzerland to form UBS. Acquired from UBS by Baloise Holding and current name adopted in 2000.
