History Belgium's Banque Diamantaire was founded in 1934 by the country's three leading banks and a company owned by the De Beers group to focus on the diamond industry. The Swiss subsidiary was founded as Banque Diamantaire Anversoise (Suisse) in 1980. Current name adopted in 2001. Belgium's largest bank, KBC, acquired 87.2% of the parent in 1999 and the other shares in 2002.
