History

Founded in 1965 as Multi Banking Corporation. Acquired by Edmundo Safdié in 1971. Name changed to Banque Multi Commerciale in 1975. Current name adopted in 2003. Opened Sao Paulo and Tel Aviv offices in 1998. Acquired 70% of Banca di Credito e Commercio, Lugano, in 1997, boosted stake to 100% in 2002 and absorbed the subsidiary in 2005. (The Safdié family established Banco Cidade in Brazil in 1965 and Commercial Bank of New York in 1988. It sold the Brazilian bank in 2001 and the US bank in 2002). Closed offices in New York, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires in 2009-2010 as part of a reorganization.
