History Founded in 1920 by Edouard Greutert as Ed. Greutert & Cie. Originally linked to the German company Metallgesellschaft and developed ties to I.G. Farben and the German chemicals industry. Name changed to H. Sturzenegger & Cie in 1940. Current name adopted in 1984, when Dr. Hans Sturzenegger retired. Dr. Wolfgang Baumann joined the bank in 1962, became a partner in 1967 and stepped down in 2002. (He died in 2004). Niklaus Carl Baumann became a partner in 1980. Wilhelm Hansen became a partner in 1995 but resigned in 2002, soon after Matthias Preiswerk became a partner. Heinz Jeger became a partner in 2003. Sold Luxembourg unit to VP Bank in 2001. Bought 76% of Trafina Privatbank, Basel, in 2004.
