1. This directory lists most
banks in Switzerland which engage in international business. It doesn't include small, purely local banks.
2. If you can't find a bank, it may have been acquired or gone
out of business or changed its name. To
see a list of bank names no longer in use, click on "Old
Names".
3. Some banks use different versions of their names in different
languages. We usually use the most common version.
4. We show telephone numbers using international dialling codes.
When calling long-distance inside Switzerland, there is no need to
use the country code (41) and the area code starts with a zero. For
example, our Geneva code (41-22) becomes 022.
5. Where a bank is part of a larger group, the number of employees
refers to total employees in the group.
6. We use the English-language titles '"chairman" and "chief
executive officer" (CEO), rather than the equivalents in other
languages.
7. There are 14 traditional Swiss private banks owned and managed by partners.
We show the general partners and corporate limited partners; we
sometimes omit individual limited partners, for space reasons.
8. Where two figures for percentage ownership are shown (such as
"34%/42%"), the first figure refers to equity ownership, the second
refers to voting strength.
9. We only provide abbreviated information for branches of foreign
banks.
10. Our information has been obtained
from sources believed to be reliable. We
cannot guarantee that it is accurate, complete or up-to-date and
we accept no liability for any loss or damage resulting from its use.
